The Williamsville Fire Department recently purchased eight ballistic vests to protect its volunteer personnel against any threats that could possibly occur at emergency scenes.According to Williamsville Fire Chief Michael Measer, the vests will also help firefighters in being differentiated from other emergency responders. Williamsville's old Engine 1 (built 1947) participated in the June 23 "Grande Parade" in Fort Erie, Ontario. It was accompanied by an almost identical 1947 pumper owned by the Fort Erie LaFrance Association. The parade marked the bicentennial of the War of 1812, a conflict with lasting impact on both Williamsville and Fort Erie. An invitation has been extended to the Canadian group to participate in the Old Home Days parade on July 10.

Williamsville Firefighters reponded Tuesday evening to 5403 Main Street, Village Square Apartments for what turned out to be a fire in an apartment. The intial call came out as a fire alarm but as Assistent Chief Kubiak arrived and reports were coming back to him of a fire on the second floor. Williamsville firefighters successfully resuscitated a 65-year man who went into cardiac arrest Friday afternoon at the Off Track Betting parlor, 1042 Wehrle Drive. Williamsville firefighters responded at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday to extinguish a fire inside a two-family home in the Village. It is believed the fire, which caused approximately $125,000 damage, originated on the second floor of the two-and-a-half story building at 30 N. Cayuga Road. Williamsville firefighters were alerted to a report of a possible kitchen fire at 250 Mill Street. Williamsville 9-2 called onlocation and reported heavy smoke showing. Amherst Fire Control dispatchers toned out the automatic aid bringing an engine from Snyder and FAST Team from Main-Transit.
